Blog Project 2 (Novocain)

I chose the movie Novocain partly because it it's the newest movie I've seen, and also because how good the movie was. The movies protagonist was a middle class, shy introvert who we find out does not feel pain to due to a genetic disorder he's had from birth. During the movie the main character Nathan Caine played by actor Jack Quaid, falls in love with a coworker at the bank they work at together. The next day after a romantic first date while at work masked men disguised as Santa clause enter the bank and attempt to rob it. During the robbery Nathans new love gets kidnapped by the robbers and he makes a decision to stop being the shy, unseen, mediocre man, and use his "disorder" to his advantage and save the newfound love of his life. Jack Quaid the main character born in Los Angeles in 1992is the son of actress Meg Ryan and actor Dennis Quaid. You may have seen Jack in movies like The Hunger Games, Scream (2022), Spider Man (across the spider-verse) and more. ...

Blog Post One "Yellow Jackets"

 For my blog post I am choosing the television show "Yellow Jackets". Yellow jackets is a story of a high school soccer team whose plane crashes in a desolate remote area, and they are stranded and forced to fend for themselves. There are currently 3 seasons of yellowjackets, and the final season just finished airing in spring of 2025. The cast of the show ranges from teens to adults from the years 1996 to 2021. The adult actors include Melanie Lynskey - adult Shauna - (others may know her form TV series like two and a half men and young Sheldon) Juliette Lewis -adult Natalie- (others may know her from classic films like Natural Born Killers, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape).   The cast does not end there as there is quite a lineup of actors and actresses in this show. This show does not really fit into one specific genre as it is a mix between horror and some psychological thriller aspects to it as well. There is a survival element as well as mystery. Information Consumption

 My three go To's for current information are TikTok, Reddit, and Google. I suppose I subconsciously trust the information I receive from these platforms, some more than others of course. for example, I trust the information I receive from reddit more than google maybe because the information feels more personal or less diluted. I haven't really examined "why" prior to this so it has been an interesting experience. I know a little about "Deep Fakes" and it is concerning to say the least. it makes it difficult to decide who or what you can trust when receiving information. as far as fake news goes, I feel like I am skeptic of most things by default, and I try my best to fact check most things to the best of my ability before sharing it or making an opinion. when fact checking, I tend to use reddit most of the time. for whatever reason I trust the information from that platform more than others.  hello everyone, my name is mike weaver. I am a PSY major with ambitions to start a “ big brother” program and provide resources and mentors for at risk youth in my community. I am a father, a partner, a brother, and a man of God. I can’t say for certain what I am most interested in learning this term as this is pretty new to me.
